Kano Emirate Tussle: Gov Yusuf Apologised To Ribadu During Thursday's Closed-Door Meeting And Apology Was Accepted – Source

The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf on Thursday apologised to the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, after accusing him of attempting to scuttle the reinstallation of the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.

Governor Yusuf, popularly called Abba Gida Gida, apologised to the NSA on Thursday during a visit to his office in Abuja.

A source told SaharaReporters on Friday that “the NSA has accepted the apology as tendered during a one-hour closed-door meeting with the governor”.

Ribadu had threatened legal action against the Kano State deputy governor, Aminu Gwarzo who openly accused him of meddling in the crisis in favour of the deposed Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero.

The deputy governor had earlier tendered an apology to Ribadu, attributing the allegation to flawed intelligence.

The state government had through the House of Assembly, repealed the Kano State Emirate law that dethroned Sanusi II and created four additional Emirates; thus reinstating and reinstalling Sanusi as the 16th Emir of Kano.

The action led to several protests in Kano, prompting a ban on protests by the state government.

However, normality seems to be returning with Emir Sanusi II making his first appointment despite the lingering legal crisis, especially regarding the court order and counter-court orders being issued by courts of coordinate jurisdiction.

On Thursday, SaharaReporters reported how Sanusi II has appointed Hamisu Sani as the new Ward Head of Kofar Mazugal.

The appointment of Sani in the Dala Local Government Area of the state was his first appointment following his reinstatement.
