
The Delta State Police Command has arrested former Emu-Uno councillor, Ndubisi Okechukwu, in Kwale LGA for alleged involvement in a kidnapping plot. Okechukwu was taken into custody on October 21, 2024.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest on Sunday, explaining that CSP Florence Onum, DPO of Abbi Division, received reliable intelligence about a planned kidnapping of a prominent Abbi community member.
Following this information, the Kwale DPO and the division’s operatives initiated a discreet investigation. On October 21, 2024, around 7:00 p.m., Hon. Ndubisi Okechukwu, a two-time councillor in Emu-Uno, Kwale, was apprehended.
The police spokesperson noted that Okechukwu admitted he was suspended from his councillor position. He allegedly planned the kidnapping, intending for the local government to pay a ransom, knowing that the intended target was close to the local government chairman.
The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
