Mutiu Akinbami, also known as Igor, the former councillor of Abeokuta North Local Government Area in Ogun State, has tragically been shot dead.
Reports indicate that Akinbami was gunned down on Friday evening while riding a motorcycle with his daughter in Abeokuta, the state capital.
The fatal shooting occurred at around 6:13 p.m., between the well-known Brewery Bus Stop and Olomoore Junction. Eyewitnesses shared with Vanguard that the gunmen were traveling in a tinted Toyota Hilux.
Members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) later confirmed the details, stating that Akinbami had been trailed from his residence near the Olomoore Federal Housing Estate. After carrying out the attack, the assailants quickly fled the scene by making a detour at the Brewery area.
Akinbami’s sudden death has sparked widespread conversation among locals, particularly around the Brewery and Olomoore Junction areas, where the attack took place.
