The Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL), a well-known organization representing various youth groups from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, has officially declared its endorsement of Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as their choice for Lagos State Governor in the upcoming 2027 elections.
In a statement released on Tuesday from Owerri, the coalition’s leaders—including President General Comrade Goodluck Ibem, Secretary Comrade Junard Abubakar, Public Relations Officer Comrade Iniobong Sampson, and Publicity Secretary Comrade Adeyemo Adewale—explained that this endorsement followed a thorough meeting and extensive discussions among their members.
The group credited their choice to President Tinubu’s legacy as a transformational leader during his term as Lagos State Governor, whose initiatives they believe set the stage for the city’s development as Nigeria’s “Center of Excellence.” CONYL leaders expressed confidence that Seyi Tinubu could carry forward this legacy, pointing to his leadership qualities and vision, which they say resonate with Nigerian youth and bring hope for continued growth in Lagos.
In their statement, the coalition highlighted the need for fresh perspectives in Lagos’s leadership, underscoring that Seyi Tinubu represents both innovation and continuity. “Lagos State needs a young leader with forward-thinking ideas and the experience to drive growth,” the group said. “Seyi Tinubu has shown he possesses the qualifications, knowledge, and commitment to lead Lagos toward a promising future in 2027.”
CONYL also called on President Tinubu to consider the voices of Nigerian youth by supporting his son’s gubernatorial ambitions, describing Seyi Tinubu as a leader capable of uniting and advancing the state. The coalition encouraged youth nationwide to stand behind Seyi Tinubu’s bid, suggesting that his governorship campaign represents an opportunity for Nigerian youth to demonstrate their leadership abilities on a national stage.
