Human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju has vowed that all lands allegedly seized by the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, will be reclaimed.
Wike has faced accusations of revoking land allocations within the FCT and reallocating them to his associates. However, the Minister has defended his actions, stating that the structures on these lands are illegal, pose security risks, and in some cases, belong to the government.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Adeyanju labeled Wike a “land grabber” and asserted that if previous FCT Ministers from the northern region could not successfully appropriate land in Abuja, Wike would not be able to do so either. Adeyanju further emphasized that Wike, whom he referred to as a “villager of Obio/Akpor” with a penchant for wearing “fake designers,” is too insignificant to prevent landowners from reclaiming their properties.
Adeyanju wrote: “All the land the land grabber is stealing in Abuja will be collected back. Even Northerners who were FCT Ministers couldn’t steal Abuja land, is it now villager of Obio/Akpor wearing fake designers and looking like a clown that will steal Abuja land? Wike is too small.”
Adeyanju’s comments reflect his firm stance against what he perceives as land appropriation by Wike and signal ongoing tensions surrounding land ownership and allocation in the Federal Capital Territory.
