Allen Onyema, the Chairman and CEO of Air Peace, has expressed strong support for the economic policies introduced by President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing that the President’s initiatives are designed to stabilize businesses and restructure Nigeria for long-term growth.
Onyema, who spoke after meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday, acknowledged that while the effects of the policies may be painful in the short term, they are ultimately beneficial for the country and its citizens.
The airline executive highlighted that many people fail to recognize the underlying intent of the President’s policies, which he believes are crucial for the country’s economic restructuring. Onyema noted that while some Nigerians may associate the term “restructuring” with calls for regional divisions, what President Tinubu is doing represents the real restructuring—transforming the way things are done in Nigeria to achieve sustainable and improved outcomes in the future.
In his statement, Onyema underscored the importance of supporting the government’s efforts, as well as indigenous businesses, in navigating these economic changes. He commended Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, for his efforts in implementing reforms within the aviation sector, aligning them with the broader goals of Tinubu’s economic agenda.
Onyema explained that, as a businessman, he understands the broader vision behind these policies. He emphasized that President Tinubu, being a businessman himself, is focused on creating a stable environment for businesses to thrive. He urged Nigerians to recognize the long-term benefits of these changes, even if they are currently challenging, and to rally behind the government’s initiatives and support domestic investments.
