The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has distanced himself from the arrest of popular TikTok content creator Olumide Ogunsanwo, also known as Seaking.
Addressing the controversy, Pastor Adeboye clarified that he had no prior knowledge of the actions taken against the social media influencer, who was reportedly apprehended over alleged derogatory remarks made about the respected cleric. He stated that those responsible for Seaking’s arrest did not consult him before taking legal steps.
Despite the situation, Pastor Adeboye has publicly called for Seaking’s release, emphasizing that the incident aligns with a divine prophecy.

In a video that went viral on Saturday, the RCCG leader addressed the matter with a composed demeanor.
“I was informed that someone harshly criticized me. What was my offense? Simply because I asked my congregation to observe a 100-day fast? I did not compel him to join. In fact, I did not ask anyone who is not a member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God to participate. The directive was for my spiritual children alone. But God had already revealed that such things would happen,” Pastor Adeboye stated.
He further expressed surprise that certain individuals took offense on his behalf and proceeded to have the TikToker arrested.
“My response? Release him. He is only fulfilling prophecy,” he concluded.
Seaking’s Arrest and Legal Proceedings
Seaking was initially taken into custody and later rearrested in Lagos on Thursday, February 6, before being transferred to Abuja. His arrest has sparked widespread discussion, particularly among advocates for free speech.
Former presidential candidate and activist Omoyele Sowore shed more light on the situation, revealing details about Seaking’s detention. Through a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday, Sowore disclosed that he, alongside human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju, visited the Federal Investigation Department (FID) to inquire about the case.
According to Sowore, the authorities informed them that Seaking had been rearrested on charges of cyberbullying against Pastor Adeboye. Reports suggest that a formal petition was submitted to the FID by one Paul James Adama on behalf of the RCCG leader.
