A 25-year-old man, identified as Toye Dominic, was found dead in a forest near Alagbodagbo village, in the Ijebu Igbo area of Ogun State, in what appears to be a case of suicide.
According to reports, Toye’s lifeless body was discovered hanging from a tree at approximately 4:30 pm on Thursday by a local hunter. The tragic incident has left family members and the community in shock.
Police Confirm Incident
The Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the discovery, stating that a hunter, Kareem Olawalose, reported the matter to the Ijebu Igbo divisional headquarters.
“The incident was brought to the attention of the police by a local hunter who stumbled upon the body while on a hunting expedition. He immediately sought help from a nearby village, where he encountered Joseph Dominic, the elder brother of the deceased,” Odutola stated.
Joseph Dominic reportedly told authorities that Toye had left for the farm earlier in the day but never returned, prompting a search effort by his family, which, unfortunately, ended in tragedy.
No Suicide Note Found, Family in Shock
Investigators did not find any suicide note at the scene, and family members expressed disbelief over Toye’s sudden death. The police have documented the scene with photographic evidence, and the deceased’s body has been transferred to the General Hospital in Ijebu Ode for further examination.

While expressing condolences to the grieving family, the Ogun State Police Command reassured the public that a thorough investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding Toye’s death.
Odutola also urged members of the community to remain vigilant and to provide support for individuals who may be experiencing emotional distress. She emphasized the importance of seeking help for those struggling with mental health challenges.
