Tension As Angry Mob Attack Lobi Stars Players During Training

Tensions escalated in Makurdi as Lobi Stars players came under attack during their training session at the Government Model Secondary School Pitch.

The incident, which occurred on March 30, 2025, has sparked widespread concern among fans and football stakeholders, with many condemning the assault on the team.

Reports indicate that the attack may have been fueled by frustration over the team’s poor performances, as Lobi Stars currently sit at the bottom of the NPFL table. While some sources suggest that the attackers were disgruntled supporters, others speculate that cultists may have been involved.

Social media reactions have added to the controversy, with some users accusing the club’s management of orchestrating the incident due to allegations of match-fixing, particularly in games against Abia Warriors. However, these claims remain unverified.

An eyewitness named Haruna, who spoke to a correspondent from Leadership, recounted arriving at the pitch to witness the players being physically assaulted and threatened. According to him, some players were even locked inside the team bus for 30 minutes as a form of punishment.

In response to the incident, Lobi Stars’ Media Director, Emmanuel Uja, categorically denied any involvement from the club’s management and dismissed allegations that officials had orchestrated the attack. He reassured fans that measures were being taken to enhance the security of the players moving forward.
