Investigate Native Doctor Akwa Okuko - Joe Igbokwe Tells Soludo

Joe Igbokwe, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called for a comprehensive investigation into the activities of a popular native doctor in Anambra State, Chidozie Nwangwu, widely known as Akwa Okuko.

In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Igbokwe raised concerns over Akwa Okuko’s growing influence and recent legal troubles. The native doctor was one of several individuals arraigned by the Anambra State Police on Friday, prompting Igbokwe to question the nature of his operations and alleged connections.

“I appeal to Governor Charles Soludo, in the name of God Almighty, to launch a meticulous and thorough investigation into this man known as Akwa Okuko,” Igbokwe wrote. “I’ve raised concerns about him in the past, particularly after reports surfaced that he was kidnapped for allegedly breaching an agreement with his criminal associates.”

He recalled a particular incident involving mysterious elderly women seen at Akwa Okuko’s residence, chanting prayers on his behalf. “At that moment, it became clear to me that his dealings are far more complex than what’s visible to the public,” Igbokwe said, adding that his earlier warnings were met with harsh criticism and personal attacks.

Expressing dismay at what he described as growing silence and inaction within the region, he remarked, “Every adult of Igbo origin in the South-East knows what’s going on, but we have chosen to remain quiet.”

Igbokwe also reflected on the historical struggles of the Igbo people, referencing the devastating losses of the Nigerian Civil War. “We lost nearly everything between 1966 and 1970. Yet here we are, over 50 years later, returning to the same destructive path,” he lamented.

He urged authorities to treat the issue of native doctors and their influence with seriousness, tying it to the broader security challenges currently affecting the South-East.
