Notorious Kidnappers Terrorizing Otukpo LGA Apprehended

Security operatives in Benue State have successfully apprehended three members of a dreaded five-man kidnapping syndicate operating in Otukpo and surrounding communities.

The suspects were captured in Ogoli-Ugboju, a community in Otukpo Local Government Area, on Sunday, April 6, 2025.

The arrest was announced by the Chairman of Otukpo LGA, Hon. Maxwell Ogiri, through a statement on his official Facebook page. He identified the suspects as Ibrahim Salleh, Ashimu, and Abuh Umaru, describing them as part of a notorious gang responsible for a wave of kidnappings and criminal activities in the area.

According to Hon. Ogiri, the operation was the result of a well-coordinated effort by local security agencies who had been tracking the suspects for some time. He lauded their bravery and efficiency in carrying out the arrests without incident.

“The security operatives have done an excellent job. We are proud of their efforts in making Otukpo a safer place,” Ogiri said. “The suspects are currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing to capture the two remaining gang members and their collaborators.”

He also called on residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the authorities, assuring the public that the local government remains committed to strengthening security across all communities within its jurisdiction.

This latest breakthrough comes amid growing concerns over the rising spate of kidnappings and banditry in parts of Benue State, with residents calling for increased security presence and swift justice for perpetrators.
