The Nigerian gospel music community has been thrown into mourning following the death of renowned gospel singer Bolaji Olarewaju, widely known as “Big Bolaji” or “Big B.” His family confirmed that he passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025, after a brief illness.
Big Bolaji’s passing comes just months after he marked his 50th birthday in November 2024 — a milestone that was widely celebrated by fans, friends, and fellow artists, recognizing both his personal journey and immense contributions to gospel music.
The announcement was made public through a heartfelt statement released by his family and shared by fellow gospel saxophonist and close friend, Beejaysaxb, on social media. Since then, tributes have poured in from all corners of the country, as fans and colleagues express their grief and remember the man whose voice inspired hope, faith, and joy in countless hearts.
