Club owner responds after man allegedly hits woman over the head with a broken bottle.
The owner of Black Box, a nightclub in Port Harcourt where a man allegedly struck a lady on the head with a bottle during a dispute over seating, has issued a statement in response to the incident.
This was disclosed in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @PH_Socials, which also included a video of the club owner addressing the situation
According to him, no matter the circumstances, it is entirely illegal and unacceptable for anyone to harm or injure another person.
His statement follows the emergence of a viral video showing a young woman recounting how she was allegedly assaulted by a man at the club.
She alleged that the man grew aggressive after her group, who were celebrating a friend’s birthday, declined to give up a seat they had reserved.
According to her, the man first told one of her friends to stop filming him and then began to physically assault that friend.
When she confronted him about his behavior, he allegedly grabbed a bottle and struck her on the head with it.
Responding to the incident, the club’s CEO strongly condemned the act, stating:
“The incident at Black Box is truly unfortunate. It’s not something any reasonable person should attempt to minimize or justify.”
“No matter the disagreement between the two customers, no one has the right to cause physical harm to another person, especially in the absence of any threat.”
He further stated that anyone who knows him should already be aware of his position on such issues, expressing serious concern over the incident of violence.
In the video, he also made additional comments, strongly reinforcing the club’s condemnation of such conduct.
