Insecurity: Nigerian Air Force To Expedite Delivery of 12 AH-1Z Viper Helicopters – Air Marshal Abubakar

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Abubakar, has reiterated the Nigerian Air Force’s dedication to the efficient and accountable use of all acquired air assets in the ongoing battle against terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements undermining the nation’s peace and stability.

In a statement, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters, emphasized that the objective is to establish lasting peace while safeguarding innocent lives and property, in accordance with internationally recognized rules of engagement.

This was highlighted by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, during a high-level delegation visit to the United States for a Programme Management Review Meeting on the procurement of 12 AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters.

During the visit, the Chief of Air Staff had the chance to inspect the helicopters in person and hold discussions with senior officers of the United States Marine Corps on best practices for operating, maintaining, and supporting the AH-1Z platform.

“This visit offered a valuable opportunity to learn directly from the U.S. Marine Corps about the optimal methods for the operation, sustainment, and logistical support of the AH-1Z helicopters,” he stated.

Air Marshal Abubakar conveyed heartfelt gratitude to the United States Government for its longstanding strategic partnership.

“We are deeply grateful to the United States Government for its enduring strategic partnership with Nigeria,” he stated.

He said the acquisition of the AH-1Z Viper helicopters will significantly enhance the Nigerian Air Force’s combat effectiveness, operational efficiency, and mission readiness, reaffirming the NAF’s determination to expedite the procurement process.

“We are fully committed to ensuring these platforms are delivered in the shortest possible time. Every necessary step will be taken to facilitate a seamless procurement and integration process,” he said.
