Transfer: Arsenal Threaten to Pull Out of Talks to Sign Gyokeres

According to Record, Arsenal have warned they may pull out of negotiations to sign Viktor Gyökeres following Sporting CP’s decision to raise the striker’s asking price.

Viktor Gyökeres has drawn attention from several top European clubs after netting 67 goals in 52 appearances for the Portuguese champions.

Sporting CP had been anticipating a bidding war among interested clubs to secure a hefty transfer fee for the prolific striker.

However, Gyökeres’ decision to reject a move to Manchester United has prompted Sporting CP to raise their asking price.

Arsenal had hoped that an offer in the region of €70 million (£60m/$81m) would be sufficient to secure the striker’s signature this summer.

But Sporting have made it clear that such a figure falls short of their valuation and is not enough to sanction the sale of the highly sought-after forward.

Arsenal are prepared to “pause” their pursuit of Viktor Gyökeres and walk away from the deal if Sporting CP persist with their inflated demands. The Gunners believe more affordable alternatives are available, including Benjamin Šeško and Ollie Watkins.
