Former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, has slammed certain leaders within the All Progressives Congress (APC) for sidelining Vice President Kashim Shettima during a recent event held to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027.
The endorsement meeting, held on Sunday in the North-East, descended into chaos after prominent party figures—including APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje and North-East Zonal Leader Mustapha Salihu—failed to acknowledge Vice President Kashim Shettima in their remarks.
Their omission sparked outrage among delegates and party members, who interrupted the event in protest.
The tension was eventually eased when Bukar Dalori, the Deputy National Vice Chairman (North-East), stepped up to the podium and recognized the Vice President, helping to restore order.
Reacting to the incident via X on Sunday, Bashir Ahmad, former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, cautioned that sidelining the Vice President in such discussions could threaten the unity and cohesion of the APC.
“In politics, both words and silences carry weight and can be interpreted in various ways. What remains clear is that it’s a BAT/KSM joint ticket,” he wrote.
