An early morning attack by unidentified gunmen on a TIV community in Ogwutu village, located in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State, resulted in the death of one man and injuries to two women.
According to security sources who spoke to Zagazola Makama, the assault took place around 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday along Iyade Road. The attackers reportedly invaded the settlement, opened fire indiscriminately, and set multiple houses on fire.
The victim, 35-year-old Yega Hosamo, was reportedly shot dead during the assault, while two women—Veronica Jacob Alakashe and Nguvelen Kaase—sustained gunshot wounds to the arm and lower body, respectively.
Both injured women are currently receiving medical treatment at Ochala Memorial Clinic in Abejukolo.
Authorities have moved the deceased’s body to the General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy, while investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of the attack.
