
The Nigerian Navy on Friday announced that its personnel, under Operation DELTA SANITY, have uncovered and deactivated a dumpsite used for illegal oil refining operations.
The Navy disclosed the development via its official Facebook page, stating, “On Thursday, 19 June 2025, Nigerian Navy Ship DELTA uncovered and deactivated a dumpsite involved in illegal refining activities.”
The dump site, located in Obotebe community, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, contained one Yamaha engine, one generator, six pumping machines, and two rolls of hoses.
On Thursday, 19 June 2024, Nigerian Navy Ship PATHFINDER uncovered and dismantled an illegal connection to a wellhead, along with two illegal refining sites in Egbema, Rivers State. The operation also led to the discovery of three refining ovens and four dug-out pits filled with an unspecified quantity of illegally siphoned crude oil.
