‘No Real Friend in the Music Industry’ – Ruger

Afrobeats star Michael Adebayo Olayinka, popularly known as Ruger, has claimed that there is hardly genuine friendship in the Nigerian music industry.

Ruger stated that, at best, an artist might have only two authentic friends in the music industry.

Appearing on a recent episode of The Stanley Agu Show, he emphasized that most connections in the industry are largely transactional, with relationships built more on business interests than true friendship.

He said, “One thing I wish I had known earlier is that there are no real friends in the music industry. At best, you might have one or two genuine people who truly want to see you grow and will stand by you even when things go wrong. They’ll make sure you’re okay — and that’s really all there is.”

“Everything in this industry is strictly business. Nobody truly cares. Just understand that people stick around because you have something to offer at that moment. Once you’re no longer beneficial, many of them will disappear. At most, you may only have one or two real friends — or none.
