“We Gave It Our Best” – 2Baba Opens Up on Split from Annie Idibia

Legendary music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face, has opened up about his decision to end his marriage to Annie Idibia after more than a decade together.

In a recent interview on the 234 Mzansi Podcast hosted by Nedu, 2Face revealed that both he and Annie had done their utmost to make the marriage work but ultimately chose to go their separate ways.

Though he refrained from disclosing the specific reasons behind their split, 2Face described Annie as an amazing woman and stressed that no one should feel obligated to remain in a relationship that no longer brings happiness.

The music legend also emphasized that people should not let societal expectations dictate their emotional well-being, warning that forcing a failing relationship can lead to unnecessary pain.He said:

“I think both of us gave it our best. And why we’re not together today is not something I’m going to talk about publicly.

“Me and her have our own understanding. She’s amazing, it just wasn’t working anymore. Something wey una get before wey no dey again—that’s why I said I won’t talk about it here.”

He added:

“I think you should try to fix your marriage, but if it’s beyond that, I don’t think anyone should be forced to stay. Only the people in the marriage truly know what they’re going through.

“It’s important not to torture yourself or let society and others dictate your emotions. This thing called ‘living in bondage’ is real, and many people have gone to their graves deeply unhappy.

“So for me, if it’s clear that both parties can’t work things out, then I don’t believe anyone should force themselves to stay together.”

2Face’s candid explanation sparked mixed reactions across social media. While some netizens praised the music icon for his honesty and emotional maturity, others criticized him, labeling him a serial cheat and accusing him of oversharing personal matters.
