A businessman in Edo State, identified as Mr. Henry, has been gruesomely murdered by his own workers after they kidnapped him and collected ransom from his family.
Reports indicate that the suspects employees of the victim abducted him and demanded a ransom, which was duly paid by his relatives.
However, despite receiving the money, the kidnappers went on to kill Mr. Henry.The Edo State Police Command confirmed the incident, revealing that five suspects have been linked to the crime. One of them, a 33-year-old man named Samuel from Akwa Ibom State, confessed to participating in both the abduction and the murder.
According to the police, “The suspect confessed to the kidnap. After receiving the ransom, he killed the victim.
”In a chilling twist, the suspects reportedly continued to extort money from the family after the murder, falsely claiming that Mr. Henry was still alive.
The victim’s son recounted the ordeal, saying, “After we gave them money, one of them told me he would show me where my father’s body was, and I sent him money again.
“After sending the first payment, we stopped hearing from them. Their phone numbers became unreachable,” he added.
The Edo State Police Command confirmed that the suspects will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
