A Nigerian businesswoman has taken to social media to share her distressing experience after being scammed out of over ₦500,000 by a woman posing as an Indomie noodles distributor.
According to her narration, a woman reached out to her online, pleading for support to meet her sales target by purchasing cartons of Indomie noodles. After some persuasion, the businesswoman agreed to the deal.
Not long after, a delivery bus arrived at her shop with multiple cartons of noodles, reportedly sent by the woman.Feeling assured, she transferred the payment — ₦500,000+ — to the account number provided by the so-called supplier, who confirmed receiving the money.
However, things quickly unraveled when the driver who delivered the cartons disclosed that his boss — the actual supplier — had not received any payment.
It soon became clear that the woman the business owner had been communicating with had no ties to the Indomie company and had impersonated the real supplier.
Visibly frustrated, the victim said in a now-viral video:
“This is the reason I will never, ever in my life… no matter what you want to buy, I’ll never do payment on delivery.
“They just scammed someone. Their bus is still here, but someone has already collected the money. I can’t do anything because I’ve paid.
”She further explained that the fraudster claimed the company gave her a target of three trucks to sell, which prompted her appeal for help.
The story has sparked an outpouring of reactions online, with many sympathizing with the victim while also warning others to verify suppliers thoroughly before making large payments.
