Former spokesperson of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chuks Ibegbu, has strongly criticized Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State over a statement attributed to him, alleging that 99.99% of criminals arrested in Anambra over the past three years and three months are Igbo youths.
In a reaction published on July 16, 2025, Ibegbu dismissed the claim as false, unfounded, and damaging, calling it a betrayal of the Igbo people by one of their own.> “It is regrettable that a person of Soludo’s calibre can betray his own people with such unfortunate comments, which is an obvious lie,” Ibegbu stated.Ibegbu, who now leads Nzuko Ndigbo Worldwide, called on Governor Soludo to retract the statement, which he said lacked factual basis and was harmful to the image of Igbo youths.
He also used the opportunity to caution Igbo politicians against seeking political favour by denigrating their people, stressing the importance of standing by the truth and defending their heritage.
Furthermore, he urged South East Governors and legislators to implement anti-open grazing laws in their respective states. According to him, such a move would help restore order and security in the region’s towns and rural communities.
