Social media personality and activist, Scott Iguma, has openly accused the Nigeria Police of working against the country’s justice system. His remarks come just three days after he was granted bail by a Lagos State High Court.
According to GIST9JA, Iguma was earlier arrested and remanded following allegations he made against a real estate company, PWAN, which he accused of scamming customers. He was granted bail on Monday with conditions set at ₦10 million. In a video shared on Thursday to thank the public for their support, Iguma alleged that the police are being used as tools to oppress innocent citizens.Sharing his personal experience, he criticized the force for lacking loyalty to the Nigerian Constitution and the principles of justice.> “With my experience with the Nigeria Police, it’s quite sad,” he said. “
They are not loyal to Nigeria, they are not loyal to the law or to justice. All they are loyal to is money.”
He further alleged that corruption within the force runs deep, saying:
“The Nigeria Police are the ones currently fighting against justice, not injustice. They are so cheap that you can bribe them with a bottle of Coke, and they’ll help convict an innocent man for murder. What I experienced and what they did to me is heartbreaking.”
Iguma’s claims have sparked conversation online, with many Nigerians calling for an investigation into his allegations and a broader reform of the police system.
