Super Falcons star Halimat Ayinde has expressed the team’s strong desire to reclaim the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title.
The Nigerian team lost their continental crown three years ago in Morocco, falling to the host nation in a tense semi-final decided by a 5-4 penalty shootout. South Africa eventually won the tournament, defeating Morocco 2-1 in the final.This year, the Super Falcons will again face Morocco — this time in the WAFCON 2024 final — scheduled to take place today (Saturday) at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.
Ayinde, who plies her trade in Sweden with Rosenborg, emphasized the team’s determination to return to the top.“We want to be champions again,” the 31-year-old told CAFonline. “
This final won’t be any different — we’ll stick together and fight for one another.”
