Genesis Energy, a prominent Pan-African clean energy firm, and Saudi-based solar infrastructure leader Desert Technologies, have signed a Strategic Collaboration Agreement during the 27th Africa Energy Forum (AEF 2025).
The partnership aims to accelerate renewable energy deployment across Africa, focusing on solar PV, battery storage, and mini-grid solutions.
This agreement builds on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed earlier in Dubai and establishes Genesis as Desert Technologies’ preferred African partner.
“We’re not just providing power; we are empowering communities,” said Genesis Chairman Akinwole II Omoboriowo.
Desert Technologies CEO, Khaled Sharbatly, noted the collaboration expands Saudi innovation into Africa, supporting energy access and sustainability goals.
Highlights of the partnership include:
Distribution of high-efficiency solar and battery systems.
Focus on off-grid and underserved areas, addressing the energy needs of over 600 million Africans.
Deployment of Sahara containerized solar units.
Joint ventures, SPVs, and financing through Saudi EXIM Bank.
The alliance also aligns with Vision 2030, the UN SDGs, and Africa’s clean energy targets. A joint task force will ensure execution and compliance with ESG standards.
Genesis Energy operates in 10+ African countries with a pipeline exceeding 4.5 GW.
