Former Minister of Police Affairs and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Alhaji Adamu Maina Waziri, has delivered a strong rebuke of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, describing it as a “complete disaster” worse than the much-criticized government of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
In an interview with Trust Television, Waziri expressed deep concern about Nigeria’s current trajectory, warning that the country is slipping further into crisis under Tinubu’s leadership.
“If the Buhari government was a failure, the Tinubu government in the last two years is a disastrous catastrophe. It has failed in all ramifications, and the country has regressed,” he said.
He cited rampant insecurity, worsening economic conditions, and rising corruption as key indicators of the administration’s failures.
“The economy is collapsing, ethnocentrism is at an all-time high, and insecurity continues to ravage many states,” Waziri emphasized.
According to him, Nigeria has lost its sense of national direction and unity, becoming increasingly fragile and polarized. He also questioned the credibility of individuals who continue to endorse the administration despite the worsening security situation in their regions.
“I am surprised that people whose local governments are under the control of bandits can appear on national television to endorse this government,” he noted.
Waziri concluded by urging Nigerians to adopt a more honest and critical assessment of the government’s performance, insisting that any administration responsible for widespread national decline lacks the legitimacy to seek reelection.
“A government that has presided over national decline in every sector cannot credibly seek reelection,” he declared.
