A late-night fire has destroyed goods and property worth millions of naira at Radex Variety Store in the Bolanta area of Oja-Igbo, Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
The incident occurred around 10:00 p.m. on Friday and was reportedly caused by a power surge. Only one shop in the complex was affected.
Confirming the incident on Saturday, Oyo State Fire Service Chairman, Maroof Akinwande, said no lives were lost.
“When we arrived, the store was already engulfed in flames. We quickly contained the fire and educated residents on fire prevention. No casualties were recorded,” Akinwande stated.
The firefighting team concluded operations and returned to base at 10:50 p.m.
