The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured the conviction of three internet fraudsters arrested at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) complex in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
This comes just days after four others arrested at a hotel within the OOPL premises were convicted, bringing the total number of convictions from the sting operation to seven.
Justice Deinde Dipeolu of the Federal High Court, Lagos, delivered the judgment on Monday after the defendants pleaded guilty to charges filed against them.
The convicts — Adenekan Ayinde, Oyatokun Qudus, and Adisa Okikiade — were among 93 suspects apprehended on August 10, 2025, during an EFCC raid on a pool party at the OOPL hotel, where the suspects were allegedly “celebrating their fraudulent activities.”
- Ayinde admitted to impersonating a U.S. woman on Google. He refunded ₦200,000 to his victim and forfeited an iPhone 14 Pro Max. The court sentenced him to one month in prison with an option of a ₦300,000 fine.
- Qudus, who posed as “Eric Melissa” on Instagram, received the same sentence after pleading guilty.
- Okikiade, who impersonated “Anthony Krenn” online, was also convicted and given a similar sentence.
According to EFCC prosecutor Saadatu Yabo, the remaining suspects will be arraigned “in batches” until all 93 arrested individuals face trial.
