The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has strongly condemned the assault of Corps Member Edema Elohor Jennifer (AN/24C/0626) in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
According to the NYSC, operatives of the Anambra State Vigilante Group stormed a Corps Lodge in Oba, alleging it was being used for illegal activities — a claim yet to be substantiated. The operatives reportedly demanded to search all occupants and, in the process, assaulted Jennifer, who was said to be visiting the lodge at the time.
The agency confirmed that the matter has been reported to the police, with investigations and necessary actions underway.
“Management wishes to restate its strong commitment to the welfare and security of Corps Members nationwide, and would not condone any act that undermines their safety,” the NYSC said in a statement on Tuesday.
It also urged members of the public to support security efforts and ensure the protection of Corps Members in their host communities and places of primary assignment.
