Armed herdsmen on Tuesday launched a renewed assault on Yelewata community in Nyiev Council Ward, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, killing a local farmer.
The victim, identified as Hemen Ayua Jonyi, was brutally hacked to death with a machete while heading to his yam farm, located less than a mile from the village square.
This fresh attack adds to a disturbing pattern of violence in Yelewata. Just two weeks ago, three residents were killed and several others injured in a similar raid. Less than three months earlier, more than 200 villagers were massacred in the same community by suspected herdsmen.
