Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has strongly cautioned the African Democratic Congress (ADC) social media team against fabricating statements and attributing them to him.
El-Rufai, in a post on Twitter Thursday morning, expressed displeasure over the circulation of false remarks credited to him. He clarified that while he may not necessarily oppose the content of those statements, he could not allow words he never uttered to be spread in his name.
“Dear ADC Vanguard, please stop creating false statements and attributing them to me. I have my own platforms where I share my views. I will disown any comments you fabricate, not because I disagree with the message, but because I never said them. That is not a truthful way to represent our party or gain attention. Kindly stop this immediately,” he wrote.
Following his reaction, the ADC social media handler promptly deleted the controversial post and issued an apology to El-Rufai.
“Dear Mallam El-Rufai, we sincerely apologize for the misrepresentation. It was never our intention to attribute statements to you wrongly. We acknowledge your platforms as the right channels for your opinions and will ensure only verified sources are used moving forward. Thank you for correcting us respectfully,” ADC Vanguard stated.
