FCT Area Council Poll: Wike Endorses AMAC Chairman Maikalangu

With the FCT Area Council elections scheduled for February 21, 2026, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has thrown his weight behind the incumbent AMAC Chairman, Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, for re-election.

Speaking on Thursday during the flag-off of the expansion of water supply to Karu town and environs, Wike said Maikalangu’s close access to government had translated into visible projects across Abuja and its satellite towns.

He listed several roads reportedly facilitated through Maikalangu’s lobbying efforts, including Saburi Road, Ketti–Kabusa Road, Kabusa–Katabushina Road, and Deidei Road.

“Support those who have the capacity to bring something to the people, not those who only go on national television to cry without results. Your chairman has access to us, and anything he asks for, we will do,” Wike said.

The minister warned residents against electing “wrong candidates” who would fail in office, stressing that Maikalangu’s humility and collaboration with the FCT administration had brought tangible benefits.

He further added that his support was also tied to Maikalangu’s loyalty to President Bola Tinubu.

“I don’t know the party he belongs to, but I know he supports Tinubu, and anybody who supports Tinubu, I will support him,” Wike declared.
