Brazilian football superstar Neymar Jr. could soon see his fortune skyrocket after reports emerged that an anonymous billionaire has named him as the sole heir to an inheritance worth a staggering £846 million (6.2 billion Brazilian Real).
According to local media outlet RIC, the wealthy businessman who recently passed away formalised his will in Porto Alegre on June 12, 2025, in the presence of witnesses and a substitute notary. The will has now been lodged with the Brazilian courts, which will decide whether Neymar can legally inherit the estate.
Interestingly, the two men never met. The billionaire, who was single and childless, reportedly admired Neymar from afar, particularly his strong relationship with his father, Neymar Sr.
“I like Neymar, I identify with him a lot,” the will reportedly stated. “He’s not self-serving, something rare these days. His connection with his father reminds me a lot of the one I had with mine, who has passed away.”
The inheritance reportedly covers real estate, company shares, and investments. However, legal experts warn the process could face potential delays due to taxes, bureaucratic procedures, or possible disputes.
Neymar, who is already among the world’s highest-earning athletes, has not publicly commented on the reports. Forbes estimated his 2024 earnings at £90.7 million during his spell at Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, ranking him behind only Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Now 33, Neymar returned earlier this year to his boyhood club Santos, where he has scored three goals in 14 matches as he works on regaining full fitness ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
If confirmed, this extraordinary inheritance would elevate Neymar’s wealth to historic levels, cementing his status not just as a footballing icon but also as one of the richest sports figures in the world.
