Nigerian music icon, Innocent Idibia, better known as 2Baba, continues to hold his place as one of Africa’s greatest musical legends, despite ongoing debates about his personal life.
His management has firmly dismissed claims that his divorce from Annie Idibia and recent marriage to Edo State lawmaker, Natasha Osawuru, have damaged his legacy or influence in the Afrobeats industry.
According to Chioma Ebubedike-Igbokwe, Head of Legal and Communication at A Guy Entertainment, 2Baba’s reputation as a pioneer remains solid and unshaken. She explained that while social media thrives on controversies and scandals, history will always remember the singer for his cultural impact and timeless music.
Ebubedike-Igbokwe stressed that 2Baba’s contributions form part of the foundation on which the global success of Afrobeats stands today. She noted that Billboard’s recognition of “African Queen” as the greatest Afrobeats song of all time only reinforces his status as one of the most influential African musicians.
In her words, “Controversy may dominate the digital space, but it cannot erase 2Baba’s impact. His catalogue, storytelling, and stagecraft remain unmatched. Rather than compete with younger artistes, we are positioning him as a voice that will always be relevant. Like Fela and Christy Essien-Igbokwe, 2Baba has earned his place as a timeless legend.”
She further explained that the singer’s current silence on personal matters is deliberate, adding that he intends to address important issues at the right time. “Silence is sometimes the highest form of respect — for family, for fans, and for truth. 2Baba has chosen grace over noise. At the right moment, he will speak honestly and humbly. Until then, his work and influence will continue to speak louder than any controversy,” she said.
Meanwhile, his management revealed that new projects and tours are in the works, emphasizing that 2Baba remains not just a musician, but the emotional voice of a generation whose legacy will continue to inspire the younger wave of artistes.
