Russia has confirmed that its newly developed cancer vaccine is ready for use following the successful completion of preclinical trials that demonstrated both safety and strong effectiveness.
The announcement was made by Veronika Skvortsova, Director of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA) and former Minister of Health, during the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok.
According to Skvortsova, the vaccine has undergone years of research, with the last three years dedicated to mandatory preclinical studies. “The vaccine is now ready for use; we are awaiting official approval,” she stated.
The first phase of deployment will target colorectal cancer, where trials recorded significant tumor reduction, slowed disease progression, and improved survival rates. Beyond this, Russian scientists have also made progress in developing vaccines for glioblastoma and specific melanomas, including ocular melanoma.
Skvortsova also highlighted advancements in neuroprosthetics, noting that biocompatible microelectrodes implanted at the ends of peripheral nerve fibers—both sensory and motor—have already been created. She assured that neuroprosthetic devices, designed to restore impaired neural functions, are moving closer to becoming a practical reality.
