JUST IN: Civil Rights Icon Jesse Jackson Is Dead

Jesse Jackson, an American civil rights leader known for advocating for human rights and economic equality, has passed away at the age of 84.

According to the Financial Times, Jackson’s family announced his death on Tuesday after years of prolonged illness from progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), a condition similar to Parkinson’s disease

“His unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and human rights helped shape a global movement for freedom and dignity,” his family wrote.

“He elevated the voices of the voiceless from his presidential campaigns in the 1980s to mobilising millions to register to vote, leaving mobilising millions to register to vote – leaving an indelible mark on history.”

Jackson was a disciple of Martin Luther King JR.
