The Young Progressives Party (YPP) has taken note of a spurious statement attributed to the All Progressives Congress (APC) South East Organising Secretary, Mr. Dozie Ikedife Jnr.
Under normal circumstances, such comments would be disregarded as a common propaganda tactic employed by unpopular political parties during electioneering periods. However, in the interest of clarity and truth, we deem it necessary to respond.
During a media appearance on TVC on May 14th, 2025, Mr. Ikedife referred to the YPP as an “empty vessel.” This remark is not only laughable but also suitable for comic relief. It is indeed ironic that a party like the APC, which has never secured any elective position in Anambra State since its inception, would describe the YPP, a party that has secured two senatorial seats, two seats in the Federal House of Representatives, and three seats in the State Assembly, as “empty” when, in reality, the opposite is true.
Furthermore, it is a matter of public record that Mr. Ikedife has consistently lost his polling unit 002, Otolo Ward 2, Nnewi North to the YPP.
It is also verifiable that six APC local government chairmen recently defected to the YPP, alongside our dynamic and indefatigable flag bearer, Sir Paul Chukwuma.
We advise Mr. Ikedife to focus on the challenging task of promoting the APC in Anambra, rather than resorting to baseless mudslinging.
This rejoinder is issued in the spirit of setting the record straight, and we challenge Mr. Ikedife to name a date of his choosing, armed with results from his polling unit since the inception of the APC, so we can conduct a factual and public comparison of both parties for the benefit of Ndi Anambra.
