The Kwara State Government has announced that the section of Muritala Mohammed Way between Post Office and Challenge will be partially closed starting Sunday, June 15, 2025, to allow for ongoing road upgrades.
The closure is part of an ongoing infrastructure improvement initiative aimed at upgrading vital road networks across the state.
In a statement from Olajide Abolarin, Press Secretary to the Ministry of Works, Commissioner Engr. Abdulquawiy Olododo confirmed that although the road will remain accessible, temporary traffic diversions will be implemented to facilitate the construction work.Motorists are advised to exercise caution and follow instructions from traffic officials during this period.
Motorists have been urged to prepare for potential delays and to exercise caution while passing through the affected section.
The public is also encouraged to adhere to all traffic management instructions and signage from on-site officials.
“We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate the public’s understanding. This project is essential for improving the road’s economic impact and enhancing connectivity, in line with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s urban renewal vision. We are dedicated to completing it efficiently and on schedule,” Engr. Olododo explained.
The government also assured residents that every necessary measure has been implemented to minimize disruption and ensure public safety throughout the project. Motorists are encouraged to plan for alternate routes and stay updated on developments during the works .
