Thousands of Iranians took to the streets of Tehran on Friday in a massive protest against Israel, following weekly prayers, as hostilities between the two nations escalated into a second week of open conflict.
State television broadcast the demonstrations live, capturing scenes of large crowds waving Iranian and Hezbollah flags while chanting pro-government and anti-Israel slogans.
Numerous protesters were seen holding up portraits of high-ranking Iranian military commanders who have been killed since the onset of the conflict.
“This is the Friday of the Iranian nation’s solidarity and resistance across the country,” a state TV news anchor declared during the live broadcast.
One protester held a banner that read, “I will sacrifice my life for my leader,” signaling strong loyalty to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Similar demonstrations were reported in other major cities, including Tabriz in the northwest and Shiraz in the south.
The protests follow continued exchanges of fire between Iran and Israel, as tensions between the two countries show no signs of abating.
