Yobe: Police Intercept Three Suspects With 113 Rustled Cattle From Kano, Foil Armed Robbery Attempt

The Yobe State Police Command has announced the arrest of three suspects who were intercepted by its operatives near Mashio village in Fune Local Government Area while allegedly transporting 133 rustled cattle from the Falgore area of Kano State.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, who described the arrest as a significant milestone in the Command’s ongoing efforts to combat crime in the state.

“On June 30, 2025, at about 1300hrs, the Damagum Divisional Police Headquarters received credible intelligence regarding suspected cattle rustlers transporting a large herd of cattle through Mashio, in Fune Local Government Area,” the statement read.

The Command stated, “Swift police action led to the arrest of three suspects: Mohammed Sani (40), Abubakar Sani (35), and Abdullahi Buhari (37), all natives of Kano State.

”It added that the case has been transferred to the Crack Squad for further investigation

In a separate incident, the Command reported that on June 30, 2025, at about 1100hrs, its detectives responded to a distress call regarding an armed robbery attempt in Jajare, Fune Local Government Area. During the operation, two suspects were apprehended, and the victim was rescued, albeit with multiple injuries.

The statement further noted that a discreet investigation has been initiated by the State Criminal Investigation Department.

Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, commended the Command’s operatives for their resilience and dedication in the ongoing fight against crime in the state.

He also expressed appreciation to communities across Yobe for their strong cooperation and urged continued support and understanding in ensuring lasting security
