Suspected members of the Lakurawa group launched a deadly assault on Zogirma village in Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State on Friday evening, resulting in the deaths of three mobile police officers and injuries to several civilians.
According to a post by security analyst Bakatsine on X, the attack occurred around 5:00 p.m.—coinciding with a planned cash distribution event in the community. The disbursement team, still in Bunza town at the time, reportedly received a security alert and subsequently aborted the trip.
The attackers, riding in pairs on two motorcycles, stormed the village heavily armed. Although they failed to intercept the cash, they opened fire on civilians, injuring several. One victim was reportedly shot in the stomach, sustaining critical injuries that exposed internal organs.
Tragically, the three mobile police officers deployed to secure the distribution point were gunned down at the village entrance, bringing a violent end to the attempted ambush.
