The investigation into a 36-year-old woman arrested over the alleged sexual exploitation of her seven-year-old daughter has taken a new turn following fresh allegations made by human rights activist, Israel Joe.
Joe, in a statement shared on social media, alleged that the woman may be connected to a wider network involved in producing and distributing explicit content for foreign clients.
The activist claimed that his ongoing monitoring of online platforms had uncovered other women allegedly involved in similar activities.
However, the allegations have not been independently verified, and it remains unclear whether investigators have established any connection between the arrested woman and the wider network described by the activist.
Alleged Attempts To Influence Investigation
Joe further alleged that some foreign clients who allegedly patronised the content were already aware of the woman’s arrest and could attempt to influence the legal process.
According to him, there were alleged plans to engage a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and deploy substantial financial resources in an attempt to secure the woman’s release or influence the outcome of the case.
He subsequently urged the police and prosecutors handling the matter to remain vigilant and ensure that the investigation is conducted independently.
Joe said the alleged financial activities surrounding the case should be closely monitored, particularly if attempts are made to interfere with the investigation or court proceedings.
Activist Claims Wider Online Network
The activist also alleged that several women were participating in similar activities on online platforms and called for a wider investigation into the websites and groups allegedly facilitating the production and distribution of such material.
He claimed that some of the platforms operate through private groups and provide financial incentives for users to produce increasingly disturbing material for paying subscribers.
Joe said he had personally undertaken investigations into some of the platforms and claimed to have gained access to two of them in an effort to gather information.
He also warned parents and guardians to pay closer attention to their children’s online activities, particularly their use of social media platforms and websites where inappropriate or exploitative content may be circulated.
Call For Thorough Investigation
The activist called on law enforcement authorities to examine the suspect’s electronic devices and investigate possible links to other individuals who may be involved in the alleged exploitation network.
He also appealed to authorities to investigate any attempts to compromise the case and ensure that anyone found to have facilitated the alleged exploitation is brought before the law.

The latest claims come as the police investigation into the alleged exploitation of the child continues.
At the time of this report, the specific allegations made by Israel Joe concerning foreign financiers, other alleged participants and attempts to influence the investigation had not been independently confirmed by the police or other relevant authorities.
The case also underscores growing concerns over the online exploitation of children and the need for parents, technology platforms and law enforcement agencies to strengthen measures aimed at protecting minors from sexual exploitation.
