‘We’re Ready For Anything’ — Tension As APC Gets Strong Warning From Opposition Ahead Of 2027 Elections

The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has expressed confidence that the party can defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections if the exercise is free, fair and credible.

Abdullahi made the declaration during an interview with Symfoni TV while responding to questions about the ADC’s chances of unseating the APC in the forthcoming presidential election.

The ADC spokesperson said the party was confident of victory under a credible electoral process, but expressed concern over the possibility of manipulation during the polls.

According to him, the major concern for the opposition party is not its ability to compete but whether the 2027 election will provide a level playing field for all political parties.

“In a free and fair election, we have no doubt in our minds that we will win this election. The challenge is, will there be a free and fair election?” Abdullahi said.

He further stated that the ADC was preparing for the election and would take steps to protect its votes at polling units and during the collation process.

Abdullahi alleged that the APC could attempt to manipulate the electoral process, adding that the ADC would be prepared to respond through lawful measures aimed at safeguarding its votes.

“We are ready for that. We are ready for anything. We are dealing with these APC people; you have to be ready for anything because we know that they will want to steal the election,” he said.

The ADC spokesman added that the party had plans to closely monitor the electoral process and protect the votes cast for its candidates.

“We will police our votes. We know the things that we will do. We won’t tell you, but we are ready for them because we know that if you dine with the devil, you have to have a long spoon,” Abdullahi added.

His comments come as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections, with opposition groups seeking to challenge the dominance of the APC at both the federal and state levels.

The ADC has continued to position itself as a platform capable of bringing together opposition politicians and other political stakeholders ahead of the 2027 elections.

However, Abdullahi’s claim that the party would defeat the APC remains a political projection, while the actual outcome will depend on the strength of the parties, their candidates, voter turnout and the credibility of the electoral process.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is expected to conduct the 2027 general elections amid growing calls from political parties and civil society groups for a transparent, credible and peaceful electoral process.
