Popular Nigerian car dealer and social media personality, Adesuwa Renee Ogiozee, widely known as Renee5star, has regained her freedom after reportedly spending three years under investigation by United States authorities over a fraud case involving one of her customers.
Ogiozee became entangled in the case after her customer, Joseph Olawuyi Olaosebikan, was accused of defrauding a victim of approximately $560,000 in a romance scam.
However, the Nigerian car dealer consistently maintained that her relationship with Olaosebikan was strictly professional and that she had no knowledge of, or involvement in, his alleged fraudulent activities.
According to reports, the prolonged legal ordeal subjected Ogiozee to significant restrictions while investigations continued. She reportedly wore an electronic monitoring device around her ankle and was required to charge it at a specified time every day.
She also claimed that she endured humiliation and other difficult experiences during the period, while the person she identified as the actual culprit remained free in Lagos.
After years of investigation and legal proceedings, reports indicate that the FBI and US authorities found no evidence connecting Ogiozee to the alleged romance scam. The charges against her were subsequently dismissed, paving the way for her to regain her freedom.
Reacting to the development, Renee5star described the experience as one that came at a heavy personal cost, leaving her emotionally exhausted after years of uncertainty.
“It is all cruise and fun until you are accused by the highest law enforcers in the world of a crime you did not do,” she wrote.
The car dealer also expressed gratitude to Jesus for helping her endure what she described as a difficult and emotionally draining chapter of her life.
Her release marks the end of a lengthy legal battle that she says significantly affected her life and emotional wellbeing.
