A Nigerian woman has alleged that she had a conversation with a police officer inside a public transport vehicle in which the officer reportedly claimed that Peter Obi or any Igbo person could never become president of Nigeria.
According to the woman, the alleged conversation centred on politics and the possibility of Obi, a former Anambra State governor and presidential candidate, becoming Nigeria’s president.
She claimed that the police officer told her:
“Peter Obi or an Igbo person can never become president of Nigeria.”
The woman shared the alleged encounter on social media, where the claim has since attracted reactions from Nigerians.
However, the identity of the police officer involved, as well as the circumstances surrounding the alleged conversation, were not independently established in the account.
The allegation comes amid ongoing political discussions over Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election and calls for greater attention to issues of regional representation, political participation and national unity.
