A Nigerian woman identified as Valentine, who lost both legs in a life-altering accident, has shared an emotional reflection on how the tragedy changed her life.
Valentine revealed that the accident occurred on February 13, 2024, a day she now wishes she had stayed at home.
Sharing her experience on social media, she wrote: “Take me back to 13/02/2024. I would’ve stayed at home that day oo.”
Reflecting on the aftermath of the accident, Valentine said she lost more than her legs, noting that the incident also took away part of the freedom and life she once knew.
“These used to be my legs… before an accident changed everything. Since that day, life has never been the same,” she wrote.
“I lost more than just my legs—I lost a part of the life I knew, the freedom I once had, and the person I thought I would always be.”
Despite the pain and profound changes brought about by the accident, Valentine said she remains grateful to be alive and is gradually learning to embrace her new reality.
“But somehow, through all the pain, tears, and changes, I’m still here,” she added.
“I may never get back the life I had before, but I’m learning to embrace the life I have now. My story changed, but it did not end. Some scars are reminders of what we survived.”
