An Egyptian man has been hailed as a hero after reportedly catching a five-year-old boy who fell from a second-floor balcony in Giza, Egypt.
The dramatic rescue was captured on video and has since gone viral on social media, with many praising the man for his quick reaction.
According to Gulf News, the man, identified as Ahmed Ragab, was near a shop in the Ard El-Lewa area when he heard shouting and crying coming from a nearby building.
Moments later, Ragab reportedly looked up and saw the child falling from the second floor.
Footage of the incident shows him immediately rushing towards the building and positioning himself underneath the falling boy in an attempt to break his fall.
The child reportedly struck a washing line while falling, briefly slowing his descent and giving Ragab additional time to position himself.
Ragab then managed to catch the boy in his arms, preventing him from hitting the ground directly.
The video shows several people quickly gathering around the child following the rescue.
The dramatic footage has since attracted widespread attention online, with social media users applauding Ragab for his bravery and quick thinking, which helped prevent what could have been a tragic outcome.
