The Bauchi State Council of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore has threatened to withhold its support from candidates of all political parties until its national leader, Bello Bodejo, is released from detention.
The association made its position known while appealing to President Bola Tinubu to intervene in Bodejo’s continued detention and ensure that justice is served.
Gists9ja reports that the association’s Bauchi State Chairman, Sale Garbu, made the appeal during a press conference in Bauchi.
Garbu expressed concern over what he described as Bodejo’s prolonged detention without being brought before a court of law.
He urged Tinubu to use his office to facilitate the release of the association’s leader or ensure that due process is followed if there are legal grounds for his continued detention.
“We are appealing to President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the continued detention of our National Leader, Bello Bodejo.
“We call on the President to use his good office to facilitate his release or ensure that due process is followed if there are legal grounds for his continued detention,” Garbu said.
The chairman described Bodejo as someone who had contributed to efforts aimed at promoting peace and security in the country, particularly in addressing challenges affecting communities.
He also appealed to Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed to intervene and support efforts to secure Bodejo’s release in good health.
Garbu further declared that the association would not support any candidate from any political party until its national leader was released.
According to him, the decision reflects the association’s concern over Bodejo’s continued detention and its demand for a resolution of the matter.
The appeal places Bodejo’s detention at the centre of the association’s stated position on political support ahead of future elections.
