Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi State, broke down in tears on Thursday while discussing the impending closure of the Dangote Cement Factory in Obajana.
According to the reporter, the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service employees locked the Dangote Cement Factory. Five Dangote employees were shot by members of the vigilante gang who were imposing the closure of the business.
Abubakar Audu, the late governor of Kogi State, “was so visionary as to develop, acquire a mining license, buy the C of O, invest, operate, and run the Obajana Cement factory 100%, prior to the entrance of Dangote,” Bello explained in order to clarify the issue.
Bello said, “We don’t want to shut down the Obajana Cement Factory, which is purportedly a Dangote Cement Factory.”
We would like to see more of it in this state, if there is anything. An agitated Bello, who was outlining the facts underlying Wednesday’s censure against the business, claimed that the Kogi State government had received “heaps of petitions” against Dangote from the general population. Bello further asserted that no attempts were made to have a conversation with Aliko, the business’s owner.
He asserted that Kogi officials had made vain attempts to persuade Dangote of “the imminent threat.”
Bello responded that he offered the petitioners the advice because certain parties thought he wasn’t responding swiftly enough when asked why they went to the Kogi State House of Assembly.
The governor declared that the “exploration” of the Dangote factory is causing “climate damage” and added, “So far, according to the report before me, Obajana Cement factory does not belong to Dangote.”
